Daytona welcomed with open arms our beloved Texan speedster, Ben Keating, as he clinched his first pole position of the year in United Autosports’ #2 Oreca 07. This monumental win opened 2024 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season last weekend.
Details of the Triumph:
The early part of the year brought sheer delight for Keating as he saw a two-second surge past his pole time during last year’s Roar Before the 24. Our champion, with an astonishing speed of 130.110 mph, attributed his win to the near-perfect track conditions. Learn more about this remarkable victory here.
An Epic Race:
“I was shocked; I couldn’t believe how quick it was. I thought we might as well pull over,” confessed our champ, visibly roused by his performance. Keating’s resilience and skill helped him maintain his pole position, despite fierce competition from some of the finest drivers on the grid.
Keating’s Consistency:
Nick Boulle, who was just a fraction of a second behind Keating, personified the level of competition in LMP2 this year. Irrespective, Keating maintained his ‘amateur’ racer reputation, with this victory marking his fifth consecutive Daytona pole.
Looking Ahead:
Despite the close call, Keating sees potential in two-thirds of the cars participating, looking forward to what he predicts to be an “epic year”. A year of riveting races and fierce competition lies ahead, promising thrill and glory for the speedster.
